Mission
"to cultivate a social and physical environment that supports individual wellness and nurtures a vibrant and just community."
The Wellness Council
is a collaboration of students, faculty, and staff who address priority wellness needs at Western Carolina University. Our main project is the Healthy Campus 2010 Campaign, and our efforts are guided by the Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education.
Healthy Campus 2010
The Division of Student Affairs charged the Wellness Council with leading the Healthy Campus 2010 (HC2010) Campaign at Western. This campaign is included in the Student Affairs Action Plan and is currently the Wellness Council 's main project. The HC2010 Campaign involves collecting student health data and reporting results to the campus and local community. Results are published in "How Healthy is Our Campus?" publications. A copy of the HC2010 manual is available at the Wellness Center. A slide show of our most recent results is available online.
